Sonya Hartwig, Director

Sonya first fell in love with Zambia in 2014, when she volunteered at the Nyumba Yanga Orphanage as part of a service learning trip with Simon Fraser University. Today, she is an SFU Alumni, with a bachelor's degree in Communications and International Studies. She has worked in health communications, government, community engagement, and at CBC Radio. She is passionate about improving access to both health & wellness, and education.
 

On weekends, Sonya loves taking dance classes, exploring the outdoors, enjoying live music, and curling up with a good book. She is excited to use her creativity and world knowledge towards fundraising and outreach initiatives at Homes of Joy.
